Alpha Epsilon Delta – University of Texas Austin Chapter

Alpha Epsilon Delta is a prestigious pre-health honor society at the University of Texas at Austin dedicated to providing the necessary resources and opportunities in our members’ paths to professional school. These include organizing informative workshops and lectures, encouraging mentorship through our family and big/little programs, and volunteering with local organizations in the Austin community. For the past 10 years, we have also partnered with Operation KidDocs and helped fund their trips to Guatemala through our own fundraising efforts. These include peer-to-peer fundraising, canning, semesterly Pledge Projects, and of course, the pinnacle of our year-long fundraising: Pie A President. Pie A President is a day where student organization leaders and UT staff/faculty volunteer to get pied in the face by thousands of UT students in our final fundraising push of the year. Since our very first Pie A President event, we have raised a cumulative total of over $67,000!

As you probably know, our annual fundraiser, Pie A President 2020, had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we have transitioned to a virtual fundraising event, and I’m happy to say that we raised $17,170.56 for Operation KidDocs, surpassing our previous record! While the pandemic continues to affect us going into the Fall semester, I wanted to inform everyone of a new fundraising approach that we will be taking. As the possibility of having in-person fundraising events on campus this semester is highly unlikely, we will be pursuing peer-to-peer fundraising efforts through a free online fundraising platform called Classy. Essentially, all of our members will have individual fundraising pages and work towards personal fundraising goals through fundraising asks, organization-wide social media campaigns/challenges, etc.
